Cheers to a New Year ~ What 2016 taught me!

Anyone there? I won't be surprised if no one is.... it's been a minute (and a half) since I showed up to my little space on the interwebs, and boy has life been a roller coaster (understatement) since then.

For a lot of people 2016 has been a challenging year. I guess every year is challenging, but I'm with those folks who could not wait to see (and kiss) the backside of 2016. Not even kidding.

Off to ...

In case I haven't mentioned it enough already - I know, I know, I have - I'm heading to Barbados for 5 days and 4 nights. You would think being from the Caribbean that I would really care about going to another Caribbean island right? Wrong. Its just as exciting.

Anyway, I leave later today and I can't wait. I plan to fully immerse myself into relaxation and I'll be sure to take lots and lots of pics.

Catch ya on the flip!

Friday Favourites

I don't typically wish weeks away. Life is way too short for that. Having said that, this is one week that I'm not too sad to see go away. It's been a super busy and slightly stressful one and if I'm really honest, I'm just really ready for a vacation. I haven't had a real vacation since I went to Australia in October 2014. That's just too long.

Anyway, I haven't done one of these posts in months. Literally. So I'm jumping in with some faves.

The Perfect at home date night with Uncommon Goods

date night ideas

OC has been in my life for some time now. Its actually been a year - I was just quiet about it for a while. If we're really technical about the whole thing, I wasn't really quiet was I - I was absent. I digress...

Anyway, we're both busy professionals (me an attorney and him an auditor at an accounting firm) and not always in the mood to cook something special or to go out for a fancy dinner. If I'm honest, I'm rarely in the mood to get all the way dressed up just to go eat - it has to be a special occasion. I'm also particularly financially conscious these days, because bills. And because I do plan on buying a home at some point in the not too distant future.

That means 'date night' sometimes equals whatever is in the fridge and a movie or TV show. Again, being honest, more often than not its going to be a show because frankly shows are shorter  and #webetired #andold.

Recent Happenings ...

Good gosh golly I've been gone for a bit and half. It's August, my birth month, so I figured blogging had to happen since I'll be celebrating all month long.

Life's been full and busy and good. Really good. Quite frankly, while I missed this space, I just couldn't bring myself to blog. That's about as blunt as it gets. I have no excuses. Life was happening and I was along for the ride. Blogging wasn't.

Anyhoo, today I'm here  so how about a catch me up aka photo dump. Photos are the best way to describe anything right? So here's what I've been up to...

Exposure to a Billionaire

My Bloggy friend wrote a book - and she can write!

Hi guys!

One thing I have always loved about blogging and reading other bloggers was the fact that we are all so creative in our own ways. So many of my blogger friends have written books or they are in the process of writing them (myself included).

Enter my friend Karen who blogs over at RunWright. She just recently published her book of short stories entitled It's Complicated.
