It's Wednesday! Let's Confess ...

Ahhh Hump Day guys and more confessions. I say this every week but I love these posts. I get to scream and shout and let it all out *dances to the song in my head*. Everytime I read a confessions post, Im like:

Anyway, enough babble and on to my confessions ...

Sometimes we just need a little inspiration!

Like the title says, sometimes we just need a little inspiration. I love quotes and I save too many a bunch of them on my phone. Words are powerful and inspirational, although, trust me I know all too well that in times when we need a pick me up, words sometimes just do not help. Still, I love some good quotes and I thought I'd share some of my faves. I hope that maybe some of these will brighten someone's day. They sure do mine!

New week!

And another week begins ...

I've realized that I sound like a whiny brat complaining on a Monday. Every single Monday, I complain about it being Monday. I really should be grateful that its a new week that and I'm alive to see it. I'm definitely going to work on it. Gratefulness aside though, I also really don't care for 'whiny' so I'm going to try to keep it positive this Monday and most Mondays from now on! Emphasis on try. I'm only human.

In an effort to keep it positive, this is my motto today:

India: The Chaminar

This is the second to last post about India and is mainly a photo dump. Hope you guys aren't bored of my India posts. So far I blogged about my trip to India generally, then I detailed my trip to Golconda Fort and to The Seven Tombs. Today's post features my trip to the Chaminar.

Friday's Faves!

It's Friday already! I'm pretty stoked about that. Although this was a four day work week for me, Friday is always a good thing. I'll try to ignore the fact that I actually have a meeting at 8:30 am tomorrow morning, (yes on a freaking Saturday), and I'll instead just bask in the fact that its Friday! Anyway on to this week's faves:

Fave Moments:

Thanks to Easter weekend, it was a short work week! For me at least. I know a lot of people had to work on Monday. Thank God I was not one of them!

Why I don't watch the news!

I turned on the TV this morning to some cable channel and the news was on. I listened and watched for a little bit while getting ready for work and it dawned on me that I really don't like to watch the news! In fact, I rarely watch news, local or worldwide. Let me preface this by saying, while I don't watch the news, I do read local and worldwide news online everyday.

The thing is, it's not that I don't like news or the art of reporting. In fact, I have said here before that if I were to choose another career path, I'd be a journalist or a realtor. Also, if you haven't caught it, 'The Kay Times' is a pun on 'The New York Times'. So it's not that I don't like journalism. Not at all.

Growing up it was a nightly staple to watch the 7 pm local news with my parents and on a morning before school if the TV was on, BBC or CNN was likely showing. But lately, I just cannot watch it! When I read the news I can choose what I want to let into my system and what I want to keep out! So it's not that I'm not up to date with current news, but I choose how much of it I let in.

Truthfully, I like to keep it light and positive and lets be honest most stories are not!

Here are some reasons why I stopped watching the news:

In which I confess ...

Can I just say that I love these confessions posts and I seriously look forward to writing them and to reading everyone else's ... also I get to use lots and lots of gifs. Gifs make me happy. Very happy. On to the post:

I confess that:

1. I suck at Maths. Completely suck at it. If you give me two numbers and even one of them has more than two digits, I need a calculator to do the addition, subtraction, division or multiplication. Oh, did I mention my dad is a retired Math teacher?  Pretty sure he doesn't know where he got me from. Mama you got some 'splaining to do!

At my age I should be ...

I'm 28, and I feel like society has placed certain pressures on us late twenties folk to be at a certain 'stage' at this point. Truthfully, I don't look or feel 28 and although it did take me a while, I now don't care as much that I'm in my late twenties, not married (yet), and don't have babies.

It's still funny to look at the stereotypes though!

Was anyone else late to this party?

Happy Monday guys! For once it is actually a good Monday since it is a holiday where I live and since I did absolutely nada this entire weekend. I had so much free time that I actually blogged. Twice. I can't recap a weekend where I did nothing, so there won't be a weekend recap today. In any event, isn't it still considered the weekend when Monday is a holiday?

India: The Seven Tombs, Hyderabad

I've decided that Saturday or Sunday will be Travel day on the blog. I love writing about Travel and I've been to some awesome places, so I want to continue to document that without losing my weekday 'life' posts that I also love writing.

And I'd like to thank the academy ...

Ehh em ... *clears throat*

So I received an email today from D who blogs at A different D. She so kindly nominated me for a Liebster award! Thanks D for giving me a Beyonce moment ...

D is such a cool chick and one of those people that I'm so glad I met through blogging. She lost 50 pounds in a year and looks great. Seriously motivational! Go check out her blog A different D!

Anyway there are some many rules in order to receive the Liebster award!

Friday's Favourites ... and a little Reggae!

Happy Good Friday! This week flew by and I cant tell you how relieved I am that it's a long weekend! I had three day-long mediation practicum sessions for grad school this week and one day of work. In spite of really only working one day this week, I have worked piled up the wazooo because I missed three days at the office.  Anyway, in spite of all that I have some things I'm loving this week. Before I get into it can I just say that I whipped up this post in record time this morning??? Someone is getting better at blogging! Anyhoo onto my ...
1. My new Erin Condren notebook! Yeah I know, I mentioned it before, but the bloody thing makes me smile ... I had it customized with months and even ordered extra stickers and .... I love eeet! Will I use it? I'm not sure to be honest, but it's pretty and was on sale and those are two pretty good excuses to buy anything!

Thanks to the Instagram filter, the colours don't show as bright as they really are but I assure you its colourful and pretty. Also, I took this picture on the rug of my living room floor. Although I lost a few lot of cool points when I clicked purchase ... I still love it!

And it all started with a red high chair ...

I have a  vivid memory of my childhood. I even have memories dating back to almost baby-hood or at least toddler-hood. Snippets of memories, but memories none the less. Writing has always been a peaceful little place of mine. It's a way to tell the stories and to keep those memories. Memories are tricky little things, they have a tendency to be distorted with time and you can almost doubt certain things ever happened. But some memories, oh some of them ... they stick with you and you remember every detail and when you do remember them, they need to be written ... documented if you will. Like this one ...

I am afraid of lizards. Like desperately afraid of them. If there is a lizard in the room, I most certainly cannot be there. I get paralyzed with fear. I am not even exaggerating. I get stupid. The funny thing is, I remember exactly when that fear actually started ...

Wednesday Confessions

I've been waiting to do one of these confessions posts. I guess this is the get to know Krystal week on my blog. Yesterday I posted 25 Things you didn't know about me (go check it out) and today here are some confessions ... brace yourself!
I confess that I drive way too fast. Let's just say the speed limit is not my friend! As my mum likes to put it, I drive my car like it's a weapon of warfare. This is not a boast. It is in fact a problem ... Too many friends have told me I drive 'like a man'. I'm working on it!

25 Things you didn't know about me!

I read celebrity magazines on a daily. This post is inspired by Us Magazine's "25 things you didn't know about me" series where celebrities are asked to give 25 random facts about themselves. I haven't really posted much about myself and so I thought I'd try a little something. I don't know about you but I love reading little snippets about people! Here goes ...

And just like that it's Monday

Is it Monday already? I feel like my weekend just began! I usually keep it positive on a Monday, but the truth is every Monday is a drag. Yes its a new week, and I'm thankful and grateful yada yada ... But its Monday, and we'd all be much happier people with four day work weeks and three day weekends. Don't even try to argue otherwise. Although, this IS a four day work week and I'm still grumpy pants this morning.

Anyway, I thought I'd give a little recap on what I did with the extremely short weekend:

Five Things!

This week flew by and I can't believe it's already Friday. Keeping it short today since I'm way too tired and/or lazy to recap my week. Instead I'll just share five things:

1. My blog design is complete! My reaction?

It's simple, its cute and very my style! It was designed by Whitney and was first installed last week but it needed a few tweaks and she fixed me right up yesterday! Love it and loved working with her! ... I may or may not look stare at it way too often ... I  mean like refreshing the screen on the laptop and opening the page on the Ipad and phone and every other device with internet ... What do you think of the design?

Grammar police: in which I give the "apposite" response

Disclaimer: I am not an expert on grammar ... I'm just annoyed ... or annoying ...

I think I fall into that annoying group of people. You know the kind. Yup. The ones who see grammar and spelling mistakes and their faces become all emoji angry face. Sometimes I just can't! To be fair, I don't go around randomly correcting people, especially not on the internet. I know that people make mistakes! But and that's a big BUT ... I just don't get it sometimes ...

Why the rant?

I'm correcting papers that why ...

I've been correcting assignments for the students I tutor and people ... the grammar is atrocious. I mean its bad. It's hand-over-eyes-peeking-through-fingers bad. It's like that bad accident you cant look away from bad. I hate to judge, I really do, except .... I can't understand how my students, college/university students, cant grasp "there, their and they're" ... "your, you're" ... "to, too".

I can deal with spelling complications like "favourite vs favorite" or "colour vs color", because the spellings are different depending on the country (Fun fact: I use the British spelling of words and so I see red squiggly lines all over my posts), but "their vs there" ... NO. I can ignore these mistakes on the interwebs but I'm being forced to read them over and over and over again ... they're lucky I like them.

India: Golconda Fort, Hyderabad

If you haven't read about why or how I came to visit India read this post. I'm trying to space out my posts about travel. Maybe I'll post about travel on a Wednesday and Saturday. I'm not sure but I do want to document as many of my recent and future travels as possible so I can look back at my adventures one day. In any event, I'm going to continue documenting my trip to India. I apologize in advance for the quality of the pictures. As I stated before, when I went to India in 2011, the cameras were just not what they are today ... and my photography skills were less than perfect.  I digress ...

Weekly TV obsessions!

Its no secret that I love my TV shows. I work hard and at the end of the day I like to have a glass of wine/juice/water and relax in front of the TV. With game of thrones premiering Sunday night I thought I'd make a list of the TV shows that I watch every single week when they are in season. Even when I have court the next day. Yup. These shows my friends make me happy. Now I probably should preface this by saying while I do watch some more 'serious' shows, I also watch a LOT of mindless reality TV. Hey when your head is stuck in books all day, I think its well deserved. All work and no play makes ... well that's never happened so I'm not sure what it would make me, but I'm pretty sure it wont be good. For anyone. You'll probably judge me for half of this list and you have my permission. On to the list:

Scandal: Once this is in season, it is at the top of the list. Ill forgo any other show on this list to watch Scandal. Always. Who doesn't love a political/legal/conspiracy/romance/police drama? I binge watched the first season and from the second season I watched every single week. I remember when I was in my early days of law school I had a similar obsession with the show Heroes and i was loyal till the end. Ill be loyal with Scandal too. Who cares if the main driving force behind this show is the fact that the President (and now his wife) is having an adulterous affair with his employee who is also sleeping with the head of the biggest undercover Government spy organization. Morals Smorals ... right? Judge me.

Ten things I (think i would) love about blogging ...

Happy Monday ... I hope your weekend was restful and stress free! Thankfully, I have had a particularly uneventful and quiet weekend. I did some work for grad school and for my job and my side hustle (tutoring at a Uni). Last night I marked what felt like a million midterms for the students. Working on a weekend sucks major cajones, but the weekend was still a welcome quiet after the chaos that was the last 5 months of my life. I wish I could say that working on a weekend was not the norm but sadly every weekend I have at least some work I just have to do. As my boss put it 'I don't know why you think you have weekends' ... He's so lucky I like him! Seriously ... I have the best boss!

Anyhoosle, I'm still new to blogging and so I definitely won't have 10 things that I already love about blogging since I haven't blogged that much . But having read blogs for a while, I can certainly find 10 things that I think I would love about the blogging journey as time goes on! Also I love the positivity of this, so let's go! Linking up with Brianna.

That time I went to India ...

 (pic from the internet)

In February 2011, I traveled 13597.08 km or 8969m to India. Yes. It was a long trip! To give you some concept of the distance, here is a picture of the distance that I traveled. I'm from the Caribbean, an island off the coast of Venezuela and well we all know that India is in Asia. It was quite a journey!

Loss ...

Well, since I last posted, my life has done a complete 360. I can honestly say that before March 10th I lived in a small bubble; a bubble where all the other persons who never had a personal tragedy close to home resided. You might remember in this post I mentioned that I was exhausted and one of those reasons was because of the hospital visits that I did that week. My sister, my dear sister, to whom I was so close unfortunately passed away. Just typing those words take a lot out of me. I am not sure if I will be talking about this on the blog, particularly since my usually bubbly personality has been completely deflated by this enormous loss in my life and I simply do not have the words or the ability to speak about it.

Perhaps Bonnie from the Life of Bon explained the emotions attached to grief best in this post. She so eloquently expressed what I cannot yet say.
