And another week {and month} is over ...

It's Friday and I actually have a holiday today so I'm home and can read all the blogs. I have zero plans by choice because I really just wanted to relax today and I'm most certainly going to do that.

The week flew by but I still managed to find some faves:

Fave Moment:

Finding out about a quick overnight trip next week. Had me like ...

Yeah its for work and that's a bummer, and I go kind of often, but gosh I needed to get away and/or change scenery even if for one night. It's the little things.

Currently

Wow this week is flying by ... It's Thursday!!!

I feel a little random today so I whipped up one of those currently posts that are popping up everywhere. I've always wanted to do one of these posts because well I like to read about the random things people are up to. I cant even remember where I first saw this particular version but according to one of the blogs I read, I think the original can be found here

Making: A new playlist on iTunes for my drive to and from work.

Cooking: HAHA my most elusive goal. But if you call whipping up a salad cooking then I guess I cooked this week

Drinking: A wine spritzer ... Nice way of saying wine with some sprite. Don't judge my methods just try it! haha

Confessions: the High School mischief edition

Jumping right in hoping you won't judge me by the end ...

I went to a strict all girl Catholic High School run by nuns. It is supposed to be one of the top schools on my island. There's a stigma attached to us "Convent girls" ... My ex used to say "If the rain falls, all Convent girls will drown". He might be right noses were definitely in the air.

That said, when you're in a school of all girls ... no matter how uppity people think you are ... there's bound to be trouble. Maybe it was just my class/year but we gave zero frogs about being uppity and fake. That said, we also should go down in the record books for worst class in the history of ever. I swear each of these could be its own post but ... Ill shorten it.

1. One time when I was about 15 my entire Spanish class didn't want to have class the next day because the teacher got us angry. So at lunch, we all gathered around and devised a plan for the following day. As planned, on the next day, one classmate brought a whoopee cushion and it was game over. The poor teacher walks in and there are 'farts' ripping through the class. The cushion was being passed around and so it came from all different angles. We convinced this lady that we all ate some bad shared lunch. Remember we were supposed to be good prissy girls so noone would think we would fake farts. Real tears were shed. It worked. No Spanish.

A long overdue Q&A

**This post contains an affiliate link and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on this link.

First off, Happy Memorial Day to you guys in the U.S. Many of you won't even see this post because of Memorial Day relaxation and I don't blame you. I hope you all are having a fantastic weekend. I unfortunately have work today (boo), but I do have a holiday on Friday!

Anyhoosle, Some weeks ago, the lovely Kristen (who btw leaves the most thoughtful comments ever. Seriously the girl rocks) nominated me for another Liebster. So much time has past since then, (sorry Kris) but I loved her questions and so I'm going to answer them anyway. Thanks Kristen again for the nomination!

1. Favourite guilty pleasure TV show?
If you have read this blog long enough then you know the answer to this is anything on Bravo could be my guilty pleasure, particularly those darn houswives. However, Game of Thrones and Scandal both top any Bravo show any day of the week.

2. Biggest pet peeve?
Open mouth chewing. Just don't. Also slow drivers on the fast lane drive me absolutely crazy. I mean it. My anxiety hits the roof and I get bad bad thoughts.

3. Favourite store - in person or online.
I live in the Caribbean. I have great beaches but you guys in the US have the great shopping. Just a fact. Some days I would trade in a heartbeat. I can't wait to be in the US later this year just for the shopping. That said, I do A LOT of credit card damage online shopping and I even have a 'skybox' which is a US shipping address that I pay for annually to facilitate this obsession habit. Forever 21, Nordstrom and Target all have good online shopping. Amazon of course does too.

My Faves from the longest week ever!

All I have to say is thank God I took a break last weekend because I have been going literally non-stop for the last week. I am exhausted and have had the longest week ever. I almost didn't get to this post today in fact. It's Thursday night at 10 pm as I write this. I left home at 6 am, spent my day live tweeting at a boring ass conference and then went for drinks with my friend Alicia ... and for a tattoo (woohoo) which Ill share next week. I got home at 9pm!!!! That's 6am to 9pm folks. That's a lot of hours not to be home and I stink. I'm beat. Seriously beat. And I cannot wait to say this to everyone as I bounce ... yes bounce out of the office after work:

Fave Moments:

Going to the beach this past Sunday would definitely qualify as one of my favourite moments this week and good Lord I'm so thankful I did. I mean just look at this sky:

A trip to Maracas Beach

This is going to be predominantly a photo dump just a warning.

Last Saturday my bestie Nads asked me if I was down to going to the beach on Sunday. Now I know most folks think that if you live in the Caribbean, there is a beach round every corner. Not so in my neck of the woods. My country is pretty mountainous and so a trip to the beach can sometimes be an ordeal. In Barbados or even Tobago (the sister isle) for example, there really is a beach around every corner, however in Trinidad there are far fewer beaches. The beach I went to was an hour away from where I live.

Anyway once we made the plan we were all set ... To get to Maracas Beach you have to drive through a lot of heavily vegetated areas ...

There is a lookout as you get closer to the beach where people stop and take pictures and buy preservatives, local goodies for tourists and handmade jewellery.

Confessings and things...

So it turns out when you YOLO all weekend you have a lot of work to do when you get to work on Monday ... and Tuesday #NO-YOLO. So that post I promised about my beach shenanigans this weekend ... yeah Ill get to that tonight and post it tomorrow ... hopefully. No promises this time.

On to the confessions ... I saved the best two (pun?) for last!
1. I read all kinds of blogs. There are some hardcore Christian mummy blogs that I read and fan-geek over but will never comment on. In fact it was a Christian mummy blog that I first read that lead me to read other blogs which lead me here. True story.

2. I'm kinda sorta obsessed with my parents. I don't speak about them on here nearly enough and I decided they deserve special mention. I'm obsessed with these two and they are the most supportive people ... like ever. I look terrible in this pic (when I smile too big I get chipmunk cheeks) but I still love it.

You Only Live Once ...

I'm not even mad that its Monday, that's how restful my weekend was! Well let's start with Friday. I was barely even able to read or comment on blogs Friday. I went to work late on Friday, it was a no court day for me so I grabbed a late coffee (which I walked an obscene distance for in heels), sat at my desk reading my bloglovin list before I started my work and then received a call from one of my bffs Whitney, also an attorney, who was feeling pretty random.

The convo went like this:

"Are you in office?"
"Yup ... no court"
"You plan on staying in office?"
(I paused ... glanced at my desk piled high with files ...)
'Uhhhh ... not if I have something better to do ... and you sound like you have something better for me to do"
"Well ..."

Before she was done talking ... I hung up the phone, dialled the extension to the office secretary, told her to call me if anyone needs me, chucked up some deuces and was out of there within the next 10 minutes.  She didn't have to ask me twice #YOLO

I work reallllly hard. When most of mankind are on their second dream, I am awake reading files/working on last minute stuff and wishing my bank account reflected the amount of work I did. I needed a YOLO moment so I took it. That probably means I wont show up to party blog style every day this week because those files wont work on themselves but whatevs at this point.

These are a few of my favourite things ... and some Soca music ;)

It's Friday and exams are over so its a good one. I may or may not be getting my second tattoo today also so I'm pumped. Jumping right in since this post might be a little long. If you read nothing else, please read the end ... oh and watch the Fave video too! :)

Fave Moment:

Tuesday morning I went to court all decked in a black suit as usual, looking cayute and feeling smart. I walk to the bar table and a young lady who is sitting in the viewers section was staring at me and she caught my eye. Naturally, I stared back. Then she says "Hi Miss are you a lawyer?" ..... "Uhhh yes" .... "You look sooooooo young to be a lawyer." Well damn ...

Ill be honest initially I took it as a huge diss that even in a suit I look like a child but ehhhh I realize it was a compliment. Sidenote: I don't think I look like a teenager so she was clearly a little delusional but still, nice to know I look young. Ill take it.

Too. Much. Info.

I was reading Alyssa's blog the other day and she posted a TMI questionnaire. I thought I'd join in on the fun! It's kind of long being 50 questions and because I like to babble, but I cracked myself up at some of them ...

1: What are you wearing?

Umm we're starting off with a bang aren't we. A black tank and white shorts ... I went out for a drink and came home to watch a bball game with a friend. I took off my cardigan but other than that I haven't changed yet.

2: Ever been in love?

Yup ... most definitely

3: Ever had a terrible breakup?

An old ex left me when I was in my first year of law school because he thought I should focus on getting married and having babies since he was already in his 30's and ready for a family. I was in my early twenties and I wasn't ready. He was also cheating on me with a Canadian girl to whom he is now married. After he got married he called me everyday crying about what a mistake he made. She called me several times as well ... crying ... True story. They now live in separate countries. Go figure.

4: How tall are you?

Do you mean how short am I? haha ... 4'11"

5: How much do you weigh?

I'm not even in America but I'm pleading the fifth on this one.

Confesh Sesh ...

By the time you're reading this I'll probably be in my final exam for the year and then I'll be free of anything grad school related for a while *insert lady in red dress dancing emoji*. Still, I didn't want to miss a chance to confess so here I am writing a post when I should be studying. Typical me.

Anyway time for a Confesh sesh ...

1. I don't like many, if any, Michael Jackson songs.

Don't hate me but I am just one of those random few people in the world who just don't think his voice is very soothing. I actually find it quite annoying. Yes there may be some songs that are catchy, but really I think I only like those because I've heard them so much growing up. Other than that ... no thank you.

2. I don't shave or wax my legs.

Randomness and Puppi

I swear the weeks are flying by. I cant believe its Tuesday already! This is a really random post since I'm once again awake in the middle of the night.

I really should be in my bed, but I've been up studying for an exam (my final for the year) that I have tomorrow. My exam yesterday was ok but man was I sleepy afterwards. I'm talking deliriously sleepy. I attempted to watch some tv after the exam and passed out. I barely slept a wink the night before since I left all my studying for the verrrry last minute and then had to pull an all nighter ... which resulted in the most random post about a zit ever. (Update: toothpaste helped and its going down! Thanks guys!)

I think I may be getting a little too old for this studying shtick ... I mean I spent way too many years in university already and now here I am torturing myself doing a Masters degree ... that I probably don't even need. If you're curious, I'm doing a Master's in Mediation studies. Kinda counter-productive for a lawyer but ehh...

On another note, I've always been puppy obsessed but I currently have a majooorrrr obsession with French Bulldogs. I want one so bad!!! To be honest I have never seen one in real life. Sad.

I have a planet on my face ...

Another Monday! Its actually 1 am while I'm writing this and I actually have an exam this morning at 9 am!! Wish me luck guys!

Anyway, maybe I'm pumped up on coffee (yes at night) or something, or maybe it's just that time of night, but I'm in a very wild and goofy mood and decided to share a full selfie 'photoshoot' I sent to my friend on Friday to ask her advice on how to destroy a new planet! (insert comic book villain laugh or whatever).

Yes, the following photos were taken specifically with the intent to tell my friend a story. I know. Weird. I swear I DO NOT like pics and I don't actually take that many pictures of myself but this 'photoshoot' just had to be shared ...

Guys, all jokes aside though, there is a planet growing on my face ...!

A Mother's Love

My mother is the strongest woman I know. Words cannot describe how much I love and appreciate this woman! She is God-fearing and puts her husband and children above herself. She makes me want to be a mother and she has given me the best tools to do so.

T.G.I.F ... and some Faves!

What a week! It's been a long stressful work week but today I'm upbeat and smiling and not stressing about anything! Also, I look forward to my Friday posts. So lets get to it!
Fave Moments:

This little boy is the best thing ever. He made me an aunt. His sister is also the sweetest, but I couldn't get the longer vid from my phone uploaded so she is cut out of the vid BOO! My sister, her hubby and her two kids live in Australia (hence his accent). Literally they live in the furthest place they can be from me :(. Although they were here in March I miss them to bits and so I cherish my almost daily vids that I get from my sis.

Confessions: The childhood edition ... What a gem I was!

Taking it back ... way back ... Back into time ... (if this song doesn't start playing in your head then you missed out on the 90's)

Guess who was a nuisance as a kid??

So I thought I'd put a lil spin on my confessions and do a childhood edition ... This doesn't even cover half the crap I did as a kid. Anyway here we go ...

1. Once when I was 5, I stuck an eraser straight up into my nostrils and could not get it out. I'm talking a tiny eraser like you'd find at the end of a pencil! I. freaked. out. I'm talking screaming and running God knows where...

Let's talk shoes!

I love me some shoes! I may not be the biggest fashion-ista or stylish girl (being that I'm always in black) but I have the shoe game on lock! (I also love handbags but that's for another day). Shoes make me happy and I don't give a flamingo's tail feather if that comes across a little superficial...

Kidding of course ...
Shoes don't need to be designer for me to love them. I'm also frugal as heck so I have a limit as to what I'd spend on a shoe! I have found some great comfortable shoes that are not from a 'popular' designer. That being said, finding shoes for size 5 feet at all can become a little very difficult ... This is not an exaggeration. However, If I could get my hand on any of these in my size, I'd be happy as a clam. I provided the links for most of them so feel free to click the links for those you want to check out some more.

Ten Things! ... and some Weekly Goals

Happy Monday guys!  I'm still on the positive Monday train ... although its a slow moving train ... so I'm not going to complain that it's Monday today! Nor am I going to give a weekend recap this week (it was lame anyway and may throw a wrench in the whole 'positive' train thing).

Last month I listed Ten things (I think I would) love about blogging. Fun fact: It's still one of my most popular posts! This month, the topic is travel! It's no secret around here that I love to travel and see new places . I also like to write about it ... so I had to join in again this month!

Ten favourite things about
Travel:

1. The experiencing of new places and cultures - This is a given. One of the best things about travelling is that you get to see and visit new places. There's an added bonus if the place you visit has a culture that largely differs from yours. I would elaborate but you can read here for more on my experience of a radically different culture in India.

Dot com Baby!

UPDATE: I accidentally deleted the original to this post and all of its comments :( . Thank God I had it open on another tab so I just copy pasted it and reposted. So if you are reading this twice, Sorry! Also, Bloglovin transferred the followers from the last URL to this one, so if you see a ton of my posts appear on your Bloglovin I apologize for that also.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Just kidding!

I may not have arrived but what I did do was suck it up and buy a domain for this here blog! I bought it on Thursday and set it up myself which is a small miracle. I'm techy but boy I didn't know what I was doing. In case your are wondering I went with Bluehost for the name and hosting, only because I saw great reviews online. Will keep you posted on how that works out. It's set it to redirect my old blog's link (thekaytimes.blogspot.com) to this new link (thekaytimes.com), so even if you use the old address, it will still work.

If I'm honest, up until the very moment I plugged in my CC digits I wasn't even sure I wanted or needed to buy it. So much can be said on the topic of whether a blog needs a domain but ultimately, I decided I wanted one.

Friday's Faves ...

It's Friday ... Thank God for Fridays! I'll definitely be catching some Z's this weekend. Anyway its time for some of my Faves of the week. This is a long one I'm warning you.

Fave Moments:

Is this even on the list this week? Gots one thing to say ...

With. a. fork. Moving along ...

That serious post ...

Clearly I am obsessed with quotes this week. Either that or this week is just really not going my way. Or both.

I wasn't going to post today as I've been swamped at work all week and on top of that I've had some incredibly tough decisions to make. Decisions I did not want to make but had to. Decisions in love and in life. I know I'm being intentionally invasive but I'm generally very private with my personal life so forgive me when I say I have no clue why I'm even typing this in blogger and not writing it on a journal page that could be discarded never to see the light of day again. I know ... what's a private person doing with a blog? When I figure that answer out I'll let you know, but until then, if you read Whitney's post from yesterday you can probably have a pretty clear indication of where my life is right now, because in describing her situation, she described mine perfectly, except I've had my 'fixer-upper' house for years
