Boosting your confidence ...

Two posts in one day!! I am on a roll *pats self on back*.

I was approached to publish this post and because confidence and body issues (hello big boobs) is something I and many other women struggle with, I accepted. Its actually an issue near and dear to my heart. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and there are some really great tips in this post!

How Lingerie Can Boost Your Confidence

It’s often been said that in order to look great, you have to feel great, and this is something that everyone can attest to. When we feel sexy, we exude this confidence that just makes us look good, and even if we’re just sitting around in our house clothes, this confidence can do wonders for us. Unfortunately, mass media can often prevent us from feeling this confidence, as they promote unrealistic expectations of the female form. Of course, every woman can feel beautiful and sexy, regardless of size, and one way to do this is by wearing the right lingerie.

Many women think that they can’t pull off lingerie, thanks mostly to the fact that most lingerie models we see these days are stick-thin. There are some names out there that have begun to change this, however. Plus-size supermodel Ashley Graham, a woman who has always spoken against body shaming and has transcended modeling and even designed her own line of lingerie, says that the trick to feeling good in lingerie is to wear what suits your body.

Book Club January Book announcement!

Hi guys, How just how is it already December. I almost can't believe that 2015 is almost over! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. It truly is one of those holidays I wish we had in the Caribbean.

I'm still getting my feet wet and getting back into the blogging routine... but, its never to early to give some book club love. We are skipping doing an actual book for this month but we still need to announce the book for January...

... and the book may surprise some.

or all...

Happy Thanksgiving!

I thought I'd stop by the blog to wish all the U.S. folk (aka most of you) a Happy Thanksgiving. The one holiday I truly miss having where I live is Thanksgiving. The very reason and meaning behind the holiday is so special to me ... and hey who wouldn't love an extra holiday.

While I was gone ...

I've been swamped at work with trials and working late and on weekends to get it all done. In the midst of that my poor blog took a back seat to life. I think the hardest part about blogging isnt actually blogging. At least for me. Its the guilt I feel from throwing up a blog anf not having the time to comment on other blogs and respond to emails on time. It kills me.

Anyhoo, while I was away (and yes I am back - baby steps), I did do other things too - things I normally would have blogged about. Thought I'd share:

Be thankful for life!

I had this whole blog planned for today, about work, about how busy I've been and how sorry I am for not blogging for weeks ...

And then the senseless events of Friday in Paris happened and it all seems inconsequential.

Friday Favourites - The first in a long while

It's no secret by now that I've been a busy bee. Between working (I spent my entire day in court today), tutoring (also working), and life-ing, I have neglected my poor blog (and yours :( ). Life happens though and Im here with my faves. I should mention though that although I may sound like I'm complaining, I actually love my job and find joy in giving it 150% - I just need to find extra time in the day for everything else that I love. Anyhoo ...

Fave Moment:
This past weekend, my firm had an awards ceremony for staff. I got to dress up, let my hair down (literally) and look cute. I forgot to snap pics though so all you get is this grainy pic from the car ride.

LITERARY LADIES: BOOK REVIEW - Throne of Glass

It's Book Club Day! I might be a major nerd but I look forward to this day on the blog. My fellow readers feel me on that. Books are life and reading is therapeutic. Which is why I love me this book club so much. PS - shameless plug - if you haven't joined the Literary Ladies group on Goodreads or followed us on Instagram, you totally should.

The Weekend that was ...

Hi Guys ... and blog! It's Monday already and I thought I'd jump in with a quick weekend recap since it was a chill weekend after a long week (with four court days, one of those days I had two big-ish hearings - which is a lot).

the weekend that was

After having to appear in court twice on Friday, with both court locations being 45 minutes apart and hurrying to draft a document before the end of the work day, I was beat. So naturally myself and some coworkers thought it was the perfect time to take a drink ....

A bunch of random stuff

I figure I'm fresh out of excuses for being a shitty September blogger (valid excuses but I hate excuses) - so I thought in order to tip toe my way back into being a real blogger, I would list a bunch of random stuff I did while you know I wasn't blogging...

... but before I do that, I should mention that I already know October is going to be great because number one - my dad is much much better thank God, and number two, my MacBook that went kaput, - the one that the techs said would never ever work again, miraculously turned on last week after a few weeks being off... so... yeah. Lets just balance all that good off against the fact that I did drop my Iphone 6 and crack the screen this weekend. Baby steps.

Now for the random stuff ...

Literary Ladies ~ End of Challenge Check In!

Happy Monday!!! Guys, thank you so much for all of the kind comments on last week's post. I was humbled. Seriously. My family is my world and my daddy being sick really rocked me. I'm here today though and I'm much better - and thank God so is my dad. I'm not only back but I'm stoked about today's post because ...

..... today is the Summer reading challenge FINAL CHECK IN!!! I mean, that challenge flew by and I had so much fun planning and doing it with Kristen and Kari. I love those two sweet girls.

On the last check in date, I had two books yet to read since I swapped out my original "YA" even though I had already read it. In addition to that, I had one more category to read. Happy to say that I was able to complete the entire challenge a few week's ago! Final Listy List below!

Family First

Family is everything quote
My mood in a photo ...

Hey guys, so September decided to kick me in the butt and I'm just about ready for the month to end. After the Macbook saga I fully intended to blog every single day, but family comes first.

Last week, my dad spent two days in the hospital and my anxiety hit the roof. I couldn't blog, answer emails, and barely could have functioned at work. If you know my story you know that early last year I lost my sister (kidney disease). Last week was like re-living a bit of that. So yeah ... no bueno.

Thankfully, my dad is ok - he got a virus that affects your joints, your blood count etc. it appears he'll be fine, though we did have a moment of worry. My anxiety though, well that will take a minute to get back down to zero. And when it does, I'll respond to emails, be back on a commenting spree and my blog will have life again. Ha!

Literary Ladies: Book Review - Judy Blume In the Unlikely Event

Hi guys, Excuse me while I recover from a long weekend - I had Monday off. It was Independence weekend in my country (you can read my Independence post from last year here) and coming off of a birthday week, it meant I got not a lot nothing done. But alas, celebrations do come to an end and its now September.

Its also the first Tuesday of the month which naturally means its Book Club time!

I should start by saying I was really excited for this month's book because I grew up a Judy Blume fan. I read her constantly as a kid and couldn't wait to get my hands on this novel. The review is short today because of the long weekend but I encourage you to read the novel anyway.

30 for 30

Thanks guys for your awesome birthday wishes. I'll respond to comments soon. I have been swamped this week and if this post wasn't semi drafted before this week, I'm fairly certain I wouldn't even have a post up today. Work is cray.

Anyway, the big DIRTY number (that I haven't really said  out loud since I turned it) has finally arrived and I thought I'd share 30 things about me with you to commemorate the occasion (also because there are some new faces around these parts). Eventually I'll post pics from the actual birthday but today I'd rather bombard you with random facts about me that you probably dont care about.

Another wedding weekend!

It must be this time of life, because I swear I've documented a bajillion weddings on the blog in the last year. And here we are with yet another one. On Saturday, one of my really good friends from high school and college got married. It was a beautiful wedding and I'm still recovering from the effects of the fabulousness.

Of course being the best blogger on the planet (#not), I forgot my fancy camera. iPhone 6 to the rescue - aka excuse the quality of the photos.

The bride looked gorgeous for the ceremony and the reception was equally gorgeous. The reception was held at the St. Andrews golf course club house in Moka - a really scenic venue with fabulous mountain views.

Happy Friday guys! We made it to the weekend - well once we get through today. Today I'm switching things up a bit and doing a tag. My friend - the lovely Kari, tagged me in the Cruel Summer tag. Now, lemme be honest with you guys, it was hilarious answering these questions. Hi-lar-ious. Because I live in the land of perpetual summer. Still, I answered them.

I do not apologize for the crazy answers.

10 tips for enjoying a Caribbean vacation

So it's been a busy week and I just haven't been able to get a post up since my pre-written Monday's post. Here I am though ... here I am. With some Caribbean goodness.

I'm from the Caribbean and I love Caribbean vacations. I promised to give some Caribbean vacation tips a while back and I thought, not only should I make it a one time thing but I should write more about the Caribbean in general - not too much but ever so often. Its a beautiful place to live and be. One of the beautiful things about living in the Caribbean is the fact that every island feels and looks different so you can truly hop from one to another and think that you've entered an entirely different part of the world.

Being honest, my island isn't a typical "vacation" island. Its an oil producing country so the waters aren't blue and clear - like at all. Also, because of the oil and all of the local and foreign oil and gas companies and the investors that grace our shores, we have a lot of business, busy-ness and bustle here, so it feels very hectic - not at all as relaxed - as other islands. So when I want a vacation, like you, I need to hop over to another island. I've been to Grenada, Barbados, St Lucia, Tobago, and Jamaica. I've learned a thing or two about taking a Caribbean vacation so I thought I'd share.

All about that Face - Daily Facial cleansing routine

Happy Monday guys. My weekend was good - I went for an after work drink on Friday and spent the weekend with my parents. My mum left for NYC, BOS and VA this morning for two weeks - a trip I was supposed to go on, so its kinda bummy, but I sure do hope she has a fantastic time. Love my mama!

I feel like I don't talk about beauty stuff as much as I like, because lets face it - I aint no pro. I do love beauty stuff though. In my late teens and early 20's, I wasn't much into makeup and taking care of my skin. I never suffered with acne and had clear skin so I just never got into skin care. In my Mid 20's though, I started to get minor breakouts here and there. Minor ... but enough to get me off my big bum and take care of my skin. It's been quite a few years now that I started being strict or at least better - because I do slip - with skin care.

I thought I'd share my current morning and night cleansing routine. My routine changes regularly but this is my current routine:

7 Things I splurge on!

I know I always sound like a broken record when I say this, but really ... how the heck is it already Wednesday. Seriously, I was just doing some major grumbling that it was Monday.

I was chillaxing with a neighbour of mine over the weekend and he told me I'm spoilt. Don't worry I didn't knock him out - he is a good friend of mine so I allowed him to live to tell that tale. To make a long story very short, he said that because in a conversation about my day, I mentioned to him I bought two shoes earlier in the day and the price of said shoes (he asked the price, I didn't offer the info). My response? No I'm actually quite cheap but there are some things you should not skimp on.

And a post was born.

As they say in my country "Cheap thing not good and good thing not cheap". And that is true for some things. While I might be cheap in most some aspects of life, and LOVE a good deal, I do think certain things demand (to me) a splurge in order to just be comfortable. I make zero apologies for splurging on the items below.

Five ways I save money shopping online!

It's Thursday guys ... and Im excited for tomorrow!! Tomorrow for me will be a long day, but a good one. Tomorrow marks the end of the court term and my firm has a partners and associates luncheon! In the evening after all that good stuff, Ill then attend the law association's Wine and Cheese ... Both fun things; both good ways to start the weekend. But today, I decided to post something that's been sitting in draft forever.

Let me start this with a huge disclaimer - I spend a lot of money on random stuff. There's no two ways about that. Last week my sister was looking for something  online for my niece and nephew and in a group chat with my mum, she asked me to help her find it. I did .... in under a minute. Her words to me were "You are like flash with the internet shopping". I am ... I really am.

But thats not to say I don't love a good deal! I thought I'd share my online shopping habits and the ways I try to save money spending online ...

My 2015/2016 Erin Condren Horizontal life planner

Tuesday is the day before Wednesday, which is two days from Friday, which means its almost the weekend!! YAY! I kid. Got you excited though didn't I? I'm a little bit ashamed at how excited I am about posting about a planner. But yup, that's what this entire post is going to be about. A planner. Specifically, my Erin Condren 2015/2016 Horizontal Life Planner. (Disclaimer - this is a photo heavy post).

Erin Condren Life Planner

While I consider myself to be very techno-savy - I like paper planners. I need to see my goals/to-do's and deadlines. I do have running reminders on my Iphone, but honestly, sometimes after the phone buzzes, I forget about it. In my planner however, every time I look at it I'm reminded of my tasks and as an attorney, I have to have visual reminders all day every day.

A Bundle of Thoughts {aka Life Lately}

Oh boy, its been a while since I came on my blog and just wrote. Its so refreshing to just write - one of the very best feelings. When I fell in love with reading blogs and dreamt of starting my own, it was because I liked reading about other's lives. Lately blogging seems a little less about writing and life updates and more about blogging about being successful blogging. No shade just facts. And while there is a place for Pinterest-y posts,  tips and tricks, and the 'new' type of blogging, I have to remind myself that this space started as an outlet to write my thoughts, and that maybe once in a while I should actually yanno ... write.

SO life updates are in order me thinks...

Friday Favourites

Hi guys! It's Friday!! Tomorrow is the glorious day I get to sleep late. I have no major plans for the weekend other than to sleep, read, write and relax ... Maybe throw in a glass of wine or three and some sushi. That's it!

I haven't done my Friday faves in a while and it's no secret that these are some of my fave posts to draft so here we go...

Friday Faves

Fave Purchase:
I own an iPhone 6, but my office bought me an iPhone 5 for client calls. The IT dept currently has it connecting it to our servers for contacts and email etc, but I did get a chance to see it yesterday and I realised it's gold. Naturally, I immediately purchased a case for it. I have this case in pink for my iPhone 6 and love it so I got the gold iPhone 5 version for a steal (under $2) on Amazon.

I also needed a new wallet and I purchased this trifold Nine West wallet, also on Amazon for a steal. I absolutely love it!

Firmoo Glasses Giveaway!!

Hi guys!! The weeks of this year are flying by. I can't really believe its Thursday... I swear the week just started and yes I know I say that all the time.

I have an awesome giveaway today (if you couldn't tell by the title of this post). I don't know about you but ...

free stuff ecard

and you shouldn't either ...

... especially is you wear and/or need glasses

I was pumped when Firmoo contacted me the last time and I got my own sweet pair of their glasses.  I tinted those glasses and I still have them and wear them - as sunnies. They have held up great and are they are super cute. When Firmoo contacted me again offering me a chance to give one of you guys a pair I said "le duh" ... in a more professional manner of course. But seriously, I wouldn't vouch for something unless I would love it myself.

Show us your books - June/July Reads

I had a long day today (its Monday night as I write this) but I needed to draft this post before lights out. I've been meaning to join this link up for some time now and just always miss the date - clearly I'm not the most organised blogger these days. But I love books and reading and I wasn't about to miss another one. Joining Steph and Jana for "Show us your books".

Now these aren't all the books I've read in June and thus far in July. Far from it actually - remember the literary ladies summer reading challenge? Well I've read all but one book from my list (and changed a couple of my choices - but thats a post for another day) so I've definitely read a lot in the last few weeks and since I don't want to spill it all just ye, I just chose some books that I've read that stood out good or bad. Here goes!

I sometimes always walk into Book Stores just because. So a couple weekends ago I went shopping for work clothes at the mall and walked into a book store and saw this. I've read both The Husbands Secret and Big Little Lies so I though why not. I'm glad I did. I'm not sure what I would do if I forgot years of my life or didn't remember those people close to me - but I thought she did a good job of portraying the concept. Its gotten mixed reviews but I'd give this one a thumbs up and 4/5 stars. I recommend.

The Love/Hate Tag

Happy Monday guys! It was a quiet, restful weekend for me and so I thought I'd keep it simple today and do the Love Hate tag that literally everyone but me has done thus far. So here goes!!

Love:
Family - I'd be lost without them! Love my family.

Sushi - If you've read this blog for any amount of time you would know that I love me some sushi. If I had the choice of a meal right now, it would probably be sushi!

Reading - I read myself to sleep every single night. It's my therapy - Mind you, I suck at updating Goodreads, so please don't let that be any indication of my reading status ... I always forget *facepalm*

Writing - I still do write, a lot. Its also my therapy.

Running yoga or a great workout - Few things can beat the feeling of a good workout.

Friends - I rarely blast my friends on the blog but I have a core group of girls who make my heart smile. All of them!

Children - I really do hope I have kids in my lifetime because I adore kids.

Recipe: Eggs and Spinach Breakfast Tacos

Hi guys!! I decided not to post yesterday because while my weekend was great, it was no 4th of July!! Basically, I ate sushi, drank wine, shopped, went to church and relaxed. Boom!

Anyway, today I thought I'd share another concoction or "recipe" that I created in my head. Like I said the last time I posted a recipe, I whip up an idea in my head and then head to the kitchen. It's really the only time i get inspired to "cook" since I rarely actually follow recipes. I'm sure its been done before since its simple and not a big creative idea AND since it only calls for like 2 ingredients, but I thought it was tasty so why not share it. Also ... it legit takes 5 minutes to whip up. Win win for lazy cooks (like myself).

Friday Favourites

I can't believe its July already!! We're closer to the next Christmas than we were to the last and to me thats just crazy! Also ... next month is my birthday. The year is flying by. I was supposed to travel  this month but instead I'm at a brand new job and loving it. I'm going to try to whip up this post in no time since duty calls but I just had to check in today ... even though most of you will be busy with 4th of July weekend things!

Friday Faves

Fave Moment

Hands down my favourite moment would be starting my new job. I love it!!! I love the people, I love the atmosphere, the location and I really really love my new office. It still needs some personal touches and yes I already have files piling up in there (after two days) but I really love my new office... Its huge and beautiful!

Fave Beauty
In this post I mentioned that I switched moisturizers to the L'oreal Age Perfect Moisturizer. I still like that one, but I now only use it at night. I was missing my favourite (not the norm) moiturizer and I'm so glad I got it back. It makes my skin smile.

Training for Tuesday

You guys, I start my new job tomorrow and I'm nervous as all heck. No really. I'm sure I'll do fine but the anticipation is killing me. I've worked at my former job now for almost 4 years, fresh out of law school and I'm not the biggest fan of change, even when the change is wanted and needed. One of the reasons I'm so nervous is because I feel like I'll fall of of my rhythm. The training rhythm.

Training for Tuesday

For the last four years I had a groove, I knew when I could leave work early and hit the gym, how much time I had after work for workouts, how my weekends were structured etc. Now Im entering into a heavy civil litigation environment and I need to set some goals so that even when work becomes a little too much, I'm still motivated to get it done ... especially with running.

For some time now I haven't run as much as I would like, and the excuse is always that I'm too busy. Yoga I can do at home late at night, before bed or early in the morning (really the only "exercise" I'd ever do in the morning - not a morning exercise person). But for my running (which don't get it twisted, I still love to do), excuses run rampant and I always forget this:

Happy Monday guys!! This is a big week for me. I start my new job at a great firm on Wednesday. Last week I was out a lot and spent most of the week busy but also relaxing (if that makes any sense). At my now old job, I cleaned out my office and wrapped up some work that needed to get done and said "peace out". During the week, I took a few drinks, met up with my girls and had a great week - so yeah, that's where I've been, you know ... in case you're wondering. But this post isn't a recap, it's an Influenster VoxBox review.

** I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing and review purposes. All opinions are my own.

Random beach trip ...

It's Wednesday!!!

Monday, when I posted my beach bag essentials I had no idea and zero plans to head to the beach. But when you live in the Caribbean you can decide on whim on a Tuesday afternoon to take the 45 minute drive to the beach (see why a beach chair in the trunk at all times is necessary?). Some friends and I rolled up to the North Coast yesterday afternoon to Las Cuevas beach.

We chilled and watched kids play on the beach:

Recipe: Quinoa with Minced Meat and Veggies

Happy Tuesday!!

I planned on posting a completely different recipe today but then I made this yesterday and it was holy yum-balls so I just had to post it today.

One of the main things I wanted to do this year was cook more and eat out less. I think I'm doing a good job of it. Sometimes (like yesterday) I create a recipe in my head and then I make it. Disclaimer: by create, I do not mean make something original - because I'm pretty sure this has been done somewhere before. I simply mean I didn't follow a recipe and I just made it with the things I had and guess-timated measurements. Anyway I was feeling for quinoa and just thought of all the things I had in the fridge that could go with quinoa and this concoction was born. It was quick, healthy, easy and turned out fantastic ... better than I could have expected.

Beach Bag Essentials

Happy Monday guys!! I don't have much to say about the weekend except that it was fun and relaxing. As usual since I took no pictures I thought I'd do another post today.

Having lived in two Caribbean islands (I lived in Barbados for two years), I know a thing or two about Beach life. I thought about doing a Caribbean vacation series and I probably will soon, but for now, Im talking beach bag essentials. When I lived in Barbados in particular, I went to the beach often. By often I mean I legit went nearly every single day! My roommate Nadiya and I actually ditched classes regularly and headed to the beach (Fun fact: I have been to most if not all of the beaches in Barbados and I know Barbados like the back of my hand). Since its summer in the U.S. and school is out here in my country, I thought I'd share my essentials for the beach! There are certain things that are must haves for a beach bag!

Literary Ladies!

Its Friday!!! That means tomorrow is Saturday and I could sleep late :D. Usually I post my Friday Favourites on a Friday but today is a different kind of post. Talking Books today. Or Book club rather. And I have some exciting new announcements!
*rubs hands together*

Two weeks ago I posted a book club review and announced that there would be a new cohost for the book club. Well Im excited to announce that along with Kari and I, Kristen from See you in a Porridge is the new co-host of the book club! Yay! I cannot tell you how excited I am to be able to do this with two of my favourite bloggers. Kristen is a happy addition to the team. Both of these are gems and I’m happy to call them friends. All three of us K’s are excited for you to join along.

Naturally with a relaunch and new host we had to rename the club. And the new name is …

Literary Ladies!
Doesn’t it sound cute?? I love the name!! Also we have a new button for our monthly link ups… The button was designed by Kari and its the cutest button ever (button with code below).

Treadmill thoughts

A long time ago, Steph (and other people I just can't remember who else right now) wrote a post about her treadmill thoughts and I remembered thinking I want to do one of those since my brain runs a mile a minute. I never got the chance until Tuesday night.

I went to the gym for a run for the first time in forever on Tuesday. I still religiously do my yoga but I had fallen off my running game for a host of reasons. So I slapped on my shoes and gym clothes and headed to the gym. From the moment I jumped on the treadmill and hit start I knew it was the perfect time to do one of these posts because the craziness that went through my head... it was too good not to record.

Summer Style ~ Rompers

Lets just bypass the fact that I'm a hot mess blogger (and reader of blogs) these days ... I could give valid excuses but since I hate excuses I'll just roll right along into a post I've wanted to do for a long time now. Every now and again I decide to be put my foot where it doesn't belong aka the land of blogging about fashion. I shudder to even call this post a "fashion" post so lets just call it me blogging about stuff I like to wear.

Since "rompers" became a thing I have loved them. I'm 4'11, barely the height of a kid and the romper style trend is one that looks good on my body's height and type, so its a no brainer that I love all types of them and you should too especially in the summer. Yup, Most of you are rolling into Summer and I live in the land of the perpetual Summer .... so win win for all of us!
