Training for Tuesday

You guys, I start my new job tomorrow and I'm nervous as all heck. No really. I'm sure I'll do fine but the anticipation is killing me. I've worked at my former job now for almost 4 years, fresh out of law school and I'm not the biggest fan of change, even when the change is wanted and needed. One of the reasons I'm so nervous is because I feel like I'll fall of of my rhythm. The training rhythm.

Training for Tuesday

For the last four years I had a groove, I knew when I could leave work early and hit the gym, how much time I had after work for workouts, how my weekends were structured etc. Now Im entering into a heavy civil litigation environment and I need to set some goals so that even when work becomes a little too much, I'm still motivated to get it done ... especially with running.

For some time now I haven't run as much as I would like, and the excuse is always that I'm too busy. Yoga I can do at home late at night, before bed or early in the morning (really the only "exercise" I'd ever do in the morning - not a morning exercise person). But for my running (which don't get it twisted, I still love to do), excuses run rampant and I always forget this:

Schwarzkopf Ultimate Voxbox

Happy Monday guys!! This is a big week for me. I start my new job at a great firm on Wednesday. Last week I was out a lot and spent most of the week busy but also relaxing (if that makes any sense). At my now old job, I cleaned out my office and wrapped up some work that needed to get done and said "peace out". During the week, I took a few drinks, met up with my girls and had a great week - so yeah, that's where I've been, you know ... in case you're wondering. But this post isn't a recap, it's an Influenster VoxBox review.

** I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing and review purposes. All opinions are my own.

Random beach trip ...

It's Wednesday!!!

Monday, when I posted my beach bag essentials I had no idea and zero plans to head to the beach. But when you live in the Caribbean you can decide on whim on a Tuesday afternoon to take the 45 minute drive to the beach (see why a beach chair in the trunk at all times is necessary?). Some friends and I rolled up to the North Coast yesterday afternoon to Las Cuevas beach.

We chilled and watched kids play on the beach:

Recipe: Quinoa with Minced Meat and Veggies

Happy Tuesday!!

I planned on posting a completely different recipe today but then I made this yesterday and it was holy yum-balls so I just had to post it today.

One of the main things I wanted to do this year was cook more and eat out less. I think I'm doing a good job of it. Sometimes (like yesterday) I create a recipe in my head and then I make it. Disclaimer: by create, I do not mean make something original - because I'm pretty sure this has been done somewhere before. I simply mean I didn't follow a recipe and I just made it with the things I had and guess-timated measurements. Anyway I was feeling for quinoa and just thought of all the things I had in the fridge that could go with quinoa and this concoction was born. It was quick, healthy, easy and turned out fantastic ... better than I could have expected.

Beach Bag Essentials

Happy Monday guys!! I don't have much to say about the weekend except that it was fun and relaxing. As usual since I took no pictures I thought I'd do another post today.

Having lived in two Caribbean islands (I lived in Barbados for two years), I know a thing or two about Beach life. I thought about doing a Caribbean vacation series and I probably will soon, but for now, Im talking beach bag essentials. When I lived in Barbados in particular, I went to the beach often. By often I mean I legit went nearly every single day! My roommate Nadiya and I actually ditched classes regularly and headed to the beach (Fun fact: I have been to most if not all of the beaches in Barbados and I know Barbados like the back of my hand). Since its summer in the U.S. and school is out here in my country, I thought I'd share my essentials for the beach! There are certain things that are must haves for a beach bag!

Literary Ladies!

Its Friday!!! That means tomorrow is Saturday and I could sleep late :D. Usually I post my Friday Favourites on a Friday but today is a different kind of post. Talking Books today. Or Book club rather. And I have some exciting new announcements!
*rubs hands together*

Two weeks ago I posted a book club review and announced that there would be a new cohost for the book club. Well Im excited to announce that along with Kari and I, Kristen from See you in a Porridge is the new co-host of the book club! Yay! I cannot tell you how excited I am to be able to do this with two of my favourite bloggers. Kristen is a happy addition to the team. Both of these are gems and I’m happy to call them friends. All three of us K’s are excited for you to join along.

Naturally with a relaunch and new host we had to rename the club. And the new name is …

Doesn’t it sound cute?? I love the name!! Also we have a new button for our monthly link ups… The button was designed by Kari and its the cutest button ever (button with code below).

Treadmill thoughts

A long time ago, Steph (and other people I just can't remember who else right now) wrote a post about her treadmill thoughts and I remembered thinking I want to do one of those since my brain runs a mile a minute. I never got the chance until Tuesday night.

I went to the gym for a run for the first time in forever on Tuesday. I still religiously do my yoga but I had fallen off my running game for a host of reasons. So I slapped on my shoes and gym clothes and headed to the gym. From the moment I jumped on the treadmill and hit start I knew it was the perfect time to do one of these posts because the craziness that went through my head... it was too good not to record.

Summer Style ~ Rompers

Lets just bypass the fact that I'm a hot mess blogger (and reader of blogs) these days ... I could give valid excuses but since I hate excuses I'll just roll right along into a post I've wanted to do for a long time now. Every now and again I decide to be put my foot where it doesn't belong aka the land of blogging about fashion. I shudder to even call this post a "fashion" post so lets just call it me blogging about stuff I like to wear.

Since "rompers" became a thing I have loved them. I'm 4'11, barely the height of a kid and the romper style trend is one that looks good on my body's height and type, so its a no brainer that I love all types of them and you should too especially in the summer. Yup, Most of you are rolling into Summer and I live in the land of the perpetual Summer .... so win win for all of us!

Friday Favourites

I missed my Friday Favourites post last week and these are my favourite posts to draft so I decided to whip one up this week. Its been a good week, a very good one. When I wasn't doing work, I was out with friends having a blast. Also it was a great week because yesterday was my sister in Australia's birthday. I'm always sad I can't spend the day with her and since she reads this blog I wanted to say HAPPPPPY BIRTHDAY sissy! I love her so much!

I went out three, yes three, times this week. On Monday night I went out with my girls randomly for a drink. Since I was on a cleanse, I drank water!

Book Club Book Review #11 - Aristotle and Dante Discover the secrets ofthe Universe

Hi guys! First of all thanks for all the love on yesterday's post. You guys are the best.

A little over a year ago, Kari tweeted that she wanted to start a book club, and I responded to that tweet. This month marked 12 months since we started it. Yeah, its mainly been the two of us all along but its been so much fun choosing books with her, chatting with her and writing reviews on the blog. Thanks to all who participated over the year. A year has passed and we learned a lot of what works and what does not work. So next month there will be a relaunch of this book club making it bigger and better than before. But more on that later in the post - Im such a tease.

For now we review the last book of the year. It's book #11 because we skipped one month.

Weekending

Oh hey June!!

I hate that I'm now a blogger that takes unexpected breaks but apparently I am. I think all the events of the last few weeks just overcame me... new job which I start in a few weeks, old job with many loose ends to tie up etc. In addition, last week, an acquaintance of mine also passed away in a fiery car accident. It was pretty tragic. He wasn't a close friend but I knew him and the accident, how it happened, his youth being snatched away from him in an instant and just the whole thought of it just made me feel not to blog, read blogs, or do anything. I don't plan on any more breaks though... but life does happen. On a much brighter note, lets get on to the weekend happenings.

The highlight of my weekend was Friday when I took my parents out for some eats. I love them and love spending time with them just chatting so eating and having a glass of wine with my parents definitely tips the scale on the "fun" this weekend.
