Literary Ladies Check In

Good Morning guys!! Its been an entire week ... my apologies. My new job is great but tons of work. I just need to figure out how to strike a balance between work, my personal life and my baby (aka my blog). I'll get there stick with me.
Anyway today is check in day for the Summer reading challenge to see what books we've read so far. Here's my list - some books have changed from when I posted my preliminary list
What I've Read:
* A YA book (mandatory!) ~ Nineten Minutes by Jodi Picoult  (Disclaimer - I'm not sure this qualifies as YA even though some say it is and that's why I originally chose it, so I may swap this out with a real YA)
* Non US Author  (mandatory!) ~ What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty (different book than listed last time)
A book that has been on your TBR list for a year or more ~ 12 Years a slave by Solomon Northup
A book with a kickass female character ~ Rage against the Dying by Becky Masterman
* A book that is or will be a movie (or TV show) ~ A long way down by Nick Hornby
* A book written by a comedian or celebrity ~ Bedwetter: Stories of courage, redemption and pee by Sarah Silverman
A book with a one word title ~ You by Caroline Kepnes
* A suspenseful book – a mystery, a thriller, a book about revenge ~ The Martian by Andy Weir (different book than listed last time)
* A book about Summer, with Summer in the title ~ Last Summer by Rebecca Rogers

Still to read:
* A book that was recommended by a blogger  (mandatory!) ~ Once Perfect by Cece Robson (recommended by Kerry)

  1. So, what did you think of You by Caroline Kepnes? I just downloaded it over the weekend, but am in the middle of two other books that I would like to finish first.

  2. You've read so many! Did you read or listen to the Martian? Someone said it should be listened to, because all the science/math stuff would be too hard to read. But then someone else actually read it and loved it so much they decided to listen to it too. I'll be reading it because I already bought it, but I'm hoping I don't have to force my way through it! (I'm saving it for last, I think.)

  4. Ummmm, why did I think this post was going live on August 4th?? I made a note of it. I think I missed something. Anywho! You definitely got a lot of reading done! Oh! I know, the Saint Anything recap was set for August 4th. Ugh, I suck at blogging.

  6. I've read all the books on my list a week after the challenge started as I wanted to have them finished by the time my family visit and I went away and because I was off from work and had the extra time on my hands. I'm eager to find out about the winners! :)

Good luck to everyone who participated in the challenge! :)

  7. I'm in the middle of The Martian right now—so good! I'm glad practically all of blogland recommended it at one point or another :) and much as I love YA and as much as I love Jodi Picoult, I don't really think Nineteen Minutes would be considered YA. An amazing book, of course, but probably moreso considered contemporary adult fiction. Also, I really want to read Bedwetter and A Long Way Down!

  8. Oh gosh, I had to change at least two of my books already and I'm not even half done with the challenge so I hear ya! Summer seems to be a blog when you can for me, and it's hard to find that balance when you're juggling new things. Glad to see you still reading though!!

  9. I'm reading Nineteen Minutes right now. I've never read a Jodi Picoult, thought I should, this one was recommended to me, and I'm enthralled. I wish I could sit at home with a cup of tea for the next couple of days and do nothing but read.

  14. Three of my favorites on this list! Can't wait to hear what you think of them!!

I might have to swap my celebrity memoir because the library is not cooperating. I'm waiting for Aziz Ansari's book but I have Jen Lancaster's new memoir on my nightstand. If Aziz's book doesn't come in in a week or two, I'm going to have to change it up.
