Valentine's Day gift guide {for the practical girl}

Hey guys, I blinked and here we are in the middle of February with Valentines Day staring us in the face. I figured that this year I should do a gift guide - for both those single girls getting themselves something (I've done it), or those coupled up / married - really doesn't matter.

I'd like to think that I am a very practical human being especially when it comes to money being spent by me OR on me. What I mean is, I 'd prefer to own things that I will actually use. Valentine's Day therefore has always been a struggle. Aside from the whole "love should be shown everyday" thing, I just think gifts for this holiday are sometimes ... impractical? Now don't get me wrong here, there is a place for chocolate covered strawberries and flowers and teddies - We all love them - but here are some things I think a practical girl would also like ...

Valentines day gift guide

Manicure/Pedicure - Every girl loves mani/pedi time. I don't know about you guys but my feet need some TLC at the moment since I spend most of my days in heels. I sure wouldn't mind receiving this as a present. Wouldn't mind one bit. 10 extra points if he attempts to do it himself. ha!

Wine - There's nothing like a glass of wine after a long hard work day for me. The pic above shows my favourite (inexpensive) wine - Woodbridge Pinot Grigio. I typically always have a bottle of this or Trapiche Pinot Grigio ready to go!

Sunglasses - Ok, so while practical, these are admittedly on the more expensive side. Still, I wear sunnies every single day of life (I live in the tropics) and so I 100% think its worth the price and I sure will wear the heck out of it!

Books -  Ummm, best gift ever? Yes please. Or a gift card to amazon so I could go cray (no Z).

Handbag - Ok so this, like the sunnies, might be a little more on the expensive side for Valentine's Day. But let's live a little. I've been wanting a black MK bag for over a year now. I know it will get plenty of use with my job (I'm an attorney for those new around here) and so to me ... worth every penny and very practical.

Tickets - concert/theatre tickets that you can both enjoy together might be one of the most practical gifts. Its a gift and QT with each other all wrapped in one. Who doesn't love that?

Jewellery - necklace / bracelet - Clearly by jewellery I don't mean a diamond ring, unless of course he wants to do that, in which case - carry on brother - but I did mean by jewellery was a nice bracelet or a dainty necklace that can be worn with several outfits. Frankly jewellery = always practical. (P.S. I spell jewellery - and everything really - the UK way. Its not wrong just different :) )

** So let me know:
Have I left out any practical gifts?
Do you love Valentines Day or do you have a love/hate relationship with it like I do?

Have a great Tuesday guys!!

  3. I'll take one of everything please! I also like candles for practical gifts. I hate having stuff so candles are perfect because I get to enjoy how they look and smell for a while, but they don't clutter up my apartment when I'm done with them!

  13. Great ideas. A lot of people think Valentine's Day is dumb because it is made up. I think it is a great way to connect with that someone special. Sometimes day to day life gets in the way and I think it is nice to get stuff, errr, I mean spend quality time!

  17. I always love an Alex & Ani bracelet, but my favorite gifts by far are always gift certificates for some pampering! Manicure/facial/massage - those are the best!!

  18. Yup, I'd take one of each. I have a couple books lined up on Amazon that I'd love someone to buy me too. You can't go wrong with giving me books for a gift but the Amazon gift card would be even better.
