Cheers to the New Year!!

It's still mind boggling to me that tomorrow will be 2018. We all say this every year ... but I'm convinced that this year actually flew by. I'm not rushing in the year, but I do look forward to it since I get married this year (!!!).

Anyway, I wanted to hop on (again) to say whether you're ringing in the new year at a party, toasting champs with family and friends, at church (have done this so many times) or in bed (perfectly fine choice yo), I hope this new year brings the best to you and yours! I'll be bringing in 2018 with Danny and my new family (likely quite tipsy - Romanian alcohol is no joke).

2017 ~ Year in Review

When I think of my life I can pinpoint landmark years. I'll be showing my age here, but in 1996 I started high school, in 2003 I started my first undergrad degree and finished that degree in 2006. I finished law school in 2011. Those are all years I clearly remember. The most notable year is 2014 - the worst year of my life - the year I lost my sister and best friend.... the year that until this year, was where the landmarks ended.

I prefer to be lighthearted on this blog but if we were to get deep, in many ways 2017 had breathed new life into me and has brought my happy back! I was a zombie for a minute after 2014, and faking it till I make it for a couple years thereafter. I can say that in 2017 I made it and I've been truly happy. Here are some highlights in photos:
1. I got a cat!

Merry Christmas Guys!!

Off to

Romania & Germany!!

Last weekend, my MacBook decided it was done with living. The motor board gave out and basically, I lost everything. While I tried to sort that out, I borrowed my mums laptop, but Windows just annoys me now... so theres been silence on here. That said, I couldn't not pop in today though to do my customary "Off to" post.

(Christmas) Coffee Chats ~ Vol. 5

If we were having coffee this week, I'd be in a better mood than the last time we had coffee, thats for sure. Life is good these days and its the Christmas season!!! For the past month Ive been busy with work (when am I not) as I'm trying to prep all I can before I leave for my trip next week. Speaking of trip, I'm all ready! I have all my winter gear prepped, and this weekend I bought two new jeans (fun fact - I don't wear jeans). I'd say I'm as prepped as I'll ever be for the cold and for a wintery Christmas #jazzhands #soready.

In wedding news, planning is going great (though I'm still not a fan of the planning process). Just this last weekend my bridesmaids dresses were chosen, my invitations were ordered and I also made a few other big decisions that I was dragging my feet on. Finally getting shit done over here.

9 Essential Travel Apps

travel apps

If someone could pay me to travel, I'd do it as a job. I'm kidding, but only a little. Anyway, since I've traveled quite a bit in the past, and have been traveling even more lately (at the end of this year I would have been to four countries!!), I have become quite familiar with travel apps. Over time, I've narrowed down the best travel apps - or at least those that make my travels much easier.

I've used each and every one of these travel apps in the past and I'll be using them on my upcoming trip (I can't believe I leave in less than two weeks).  Let's get to it.

Christmas wish list

** This post may contain affiliate links.

I saw this tree over the weekend and fell completely in love with the decorations. So cute. December is almost a week old and most people are done with their shopping lists, so I'm probably a little late to the game here, but since I am notoriously a late shopper (I haven't finished my list yet) its not really surprising that I'm just now putting up my wish list.

Lately, I've been watching what I spend very closely since our expenses in the next year are quite a lot (read: wedding), so my wish list isn't very long and frankly most of these are wants and not needs.

Jumping right into it, here's what's on my list:

Making the most of the weekend

weekend ideas

December 1st! I truly believe this year flew by. I swear it was just January. Anyway, its really starting to feel like Christmas now. I still haven't played any Christmas music and my apartment is not decorated (I travel in 2 weeks and won't be back until January so I'm not sure it will be), but I feel Christmas in the air.

You know what else I'm feeling? The weekend. I was having a chat with a friend this week and she mentioned that she had no clue what to do with this weekend and said that she was bored most weekends. #WUT

This isn't the first time I've heard this comment (esp in my field of work where everyone thinks work should be 24/7) but I for one fully believe in weekends. Sure, I work some weekends, but lately my weekends have been for me to be the me I was before the career and adulting. There are so many ways to make the most of the weekend. I rattled off a bunch of options for her and the thought occurred to me - I should share this.
