Hi guys, my weekend was pretty amazing and wild (see – stayed out till 4 am on Friday night :/), and as such weekends go, I barely took any photos.
Well, except for these hot dogs I made yesterday … one of the highlights of my weekend.
Lets go back a bit. Last week I made some amazing bacon and cheese ‘hot-dogs’ and decided to re-create them yesterday, except this time I whipped out the fancy cam and took photos since they were too yummy not to share. In the past when I’ve posted recipes, I waxed poetic about the fact that I don’t always look at recipes of cook books and kinda just wing it. The same rings true to this recipe. It was created out of hunger, but is absolutely delicious. As its the 4th July weekend in the U.S. I thought I’d share it with the blog. Doesn’t that look yummy?
Now, this isn’t your typical hot dog (which it why its in inverted commas above), and it does take some prep work, but it’s simple enough to create and really really delicious.
The recipe below makes about 4 hot dogs, though you can stretch it to make about 5.

What you need (hint ~ not many ingredients):
2 tbs Coconut oil (or your choice of oil)
1 whole onion
4 jumbo hot dogs
3 slices bacon
1 cup Prego (or your choice of Italian tomato sauce)
Half tsp oregano
Cheese
Parsley flakes
Hot dog buns
What you Do:
1.Preheat oven to 290 degrees
2.Chop onions, sausages (yes we are chopping the sausages) and bacon
3.To your pan, add oil and heat on
medium heat
4.Add onions and bacon and let cook for
one minute
5.Add chopped sausage, combine and cook for
another minute
6.Add Prego and oregano and let simmer
for 3 minutes
7.Add cooked bacon hot dog mixture to
your favorite hot dog bread and top with cheese (lots of cheese)
8.Bake for 10 minutes or until bread is
just a little crisp and cheese is melted
9.Garnish with parsley, serve and
enjoy!
